Update August 2009
Well, here is an an update of our Alexa Rating, we are now at 2,384,663, 2 weeks after downloading the Alexa toolbar our overall ranking has improved by 20 million. The other difference that we've noticed is a huge surge in traffic.
Over the last couple of weeks we have also removed most of the external
hyperlinks that we had on the site, (unless we feel that it these links
were actually beneficial to our users) we especially removed links
that we had on our homepage). We have also started to make
improvments to the internal linking structure of our site.
So whether iimproving link structure and removing hyperlinks, or
downloading Alexa, or submitting to Digg improves traffic numbers we can't say for sure but
the huge spike we had was tremendous, we had 48 people join the site in
a week, Google and Yahoo are showing our site on page 1 for a huge wide
variety of keywords.
I'll keep you updated with further
changes we make to see if this affects our traffic numbers positvely or
negatively. We have noticed a pattern of users that peak on Wednesdays
and filter down over the weekend to start rising again on Mondays.
